It all started with a rug in 2015 and has been one of those things that has just morphed over the years.
I was making some curtains for a rather prestigious client and I was asked to choose rugs for a number of rooms in this similarly prestigious property. The client was not in residence and I needed to somehow convey how various rugs would look. I downloaded some 3d software and started modelling. Over the years, how I model & draw has developed significantly. My personal preference is for a hybrid visual – a fusion of a photograph and pencil drawing – they seem to me to be less ‘sterile’ than a photograph conveying the emotive elements of a home, where a rendered photograph can have its limitations.
Whether you just want to determine the perfect size of a new sofa, a television etc to designing a whole home, 3d modelling is invaluable. It prevents expensive mistakes and it comes into its own with planning a lighting scheme. You can explore all the design permutations and possibilities without a brick being laid. You may well be interested in ‘playing’ with the model yourself!
I am based in Sevenoaks, Kent.
